At Hudson Home Works our goal is to allow seniors to “age in place” where they want to live—in their own homes.  Most seniors have access to medical care (whether in home or out), but they do not have sufficient support to deal with their homes.  Additionally, those homes are very often unsafe as they have not been appropriately modified to best serve their owners.  Hudson Home Works modifies homes and improves functionality to keep seniors healthy and safe.

What's Wrong with My Home?

Certified Senior Home Safety SpecialistIn the U.S. today, 77% of Americans 50 years old or older want to remain in their homes indefinitely. Unfortunately, the reality is that without modifications to their homes, a fraction of those people will be able to do so for two reasons:

1. The homes they moved into years ago are neither equipped nor designed to accommodate the needs of seniors. Not only does this make daily living unnecessarily difficult, but it can lead to hazardous conditions that can result in tragic outcomes.

2. Caring for a home can be a very difficult task for many seniors. From cleaning, landscaping, and snow removal, to repairs, upgrades, and even packing away holiday decorations, running a home requires time, effort, and organization that many seniors may not want to do or may not be able to do.

If rates continue to rise, we can anticipate 7 fall deaths every hour by 2030

A major risk seniors face is the potential for a fall.  Every year in the U.S., over 25% of people 65 years old and over will suffer a fall.1  That means almost 14 million seniors will fall this year.  Of that enormous number, three million of those seniors will need emergency medical care.

While Hudson Home Works cannot reduce the personal physical limitations seniors may suffer from, we can help reduce the likelihood of a fall by making homes more senior friendly.  From simple fixes to moderate improvements and even significant modifications, Hudson Home Works enables seniors to make living in their homes safer and more enjoyable.

At Hudson Home Works our goal is to not only help improve the safety of seniors’ homes, but also to provide piece of mind for seniors as well as their families and friends.
